Dean Hansen grew up on a hog and dairy farm in Nebraska. When he was 12 years old, Dean came to Baldwin County, Alabama, where he graduated from Foley High School. When Dean turned eighteen, he was drafted into the Army during World War II and spent the next several years serving his country in Europe and Japan. After the War, Dean enrolled at Auburn University and graduated with a degree in Agricultural Engineering.
In 1949, Dean opened Foley Tractor Company with his father and began selling Ferguson Tractors. Soon, the Hansens were also selling and erecting grain bins, a move that helped them expand into Southern Farm Supply. In 1956, Southern Farm Supply began selling and building Butler Farm buildings. As the farm industry shrank, the need for large manufacturing-type buildings grew, so Dean shifted his focus to buildings. In July 1987, the company was renamed to reflect this change, and Sun Coast Builders, Inc. was incorporated.
Since then, Sun Coast Builders, Inc. has built many large and small metal buildings in Foley and around Baldwin County. From large projects like Foley’s industrial park to smaller jobs like the Fleur De Lis Flower Shop, buildings around the area reflect the quality and dedication of the Sun Coast Builders team.

Steve Bailey has been a Baldwin County native since 1968. He spent his childhood on a dairy farm, where he became passionate about southern agriculture and the systems and structures that support it. After graduating from Foley High School, Steve founded Southern Ag Service Inc., a full-scale farm irrigation systems provider, which he still runs today. In 1994, Steve partnered with long-time associate Dean Hansen in Sun Coast Builders, Inc. He bought Hansen's interest in the company when he retired and continues to operate and oversee it to this day. When he is not serving the residents of Baldwin County, Steve enjoys spending time with his daughter, Samantha.
